Art Evolve this weekend
This weekend I’ll be at Art Evolve on Stand J56. (Hall 4, RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4)
I’ve had work ready to go for a while, so I was fairly relaxed about this show. That in itself feels like progress. After Art Source last November, I wanted to keep building momentum, keep getting the work seen, and keep putting myself and my art in front of people. That is a big part of why I’m doing this. Exposure matters. Meeting people matters. Being visible matters.
I’m also really looking forward to meeting other artists and art lovers over the weekend. There’s great value in getting out from behind the workbench and into the room with people who make, look, ask questions, connect, and care.
Even though I was organised, I could feel something brewing over the last week. I ignored it for a bit, then finally gave in to the urge to stitch. So now, in a turn that is very funny to me, I have a few new pieces in the final stages of prep and I’ll be bringing them with me too.
I am choosing to stay relaxed about the whole thing. No expectations. No dramatic build-up. But I am still laughing at myself for doing last-minute creation when I absolutely did not need to.
That said, I know exactly why I did it.
These abstract pieces make me happy while I’m making them. They pull me in completely. Then when they’re finished, I’m left with a huge sense of satisfaction and pride. That feeling is hard to argue with, so I’ve stopped trying.
So that’s where I am heading into this weekend. Prepared, excited, still relaxed, and slightly amused by my own inability to leave well enough alone.
If you’re coming to Art Evolve, I’d love to see you at Stand J56.
Tickets for mailing list subscribers will be sent out tonight. If you can’t make use of yours feel free to pass it on to someone else!
