I studied the shape and subtle colouring from reference images, then translated the intricate veining into layered stitch.
The stitched version offers a safer way to look closely at a plant that has always carried a sense of danger. Without the toxicity, the focus shifts to its structure, the way the veins fan out through the petals, and the soft, smoky tones that deepen toward the centre. It feels both delicate and intense, holding the plant’s complicated character while keeping the experience purely visual.
